INTERSTATE CONTRACT CONCERNING QUALIFICATION OF EDUCATION PERSONNEL

 

 

The State of New Hampshire Participates in the Interstate Contract concerning Qualification of Education Personnel, governed by the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC), and has entered into contracts with the following states covering the education personnel indicated.  Please note that each member state may impose certification requirements which must be met within a reasonable period of time.  Further information regarding the Interstate Contract may be obtained at the NASDTEC website, www.NASDTEC.org.

1.          “Teacher” – a person whose primary function is to provide instruction to students at the pre-school or kindergarten level or in any one or more grades from Grade 1 to Grade 12 inclusive.

 

2.          “School Support Professional” – any person other than a teacher, or administrator defined above, on either the state level or local level, who is required by law to hold a certificate based on the minimum of a baccalaureate degree in order to be employed in a professional capacity in a school system.


 

 

 

THE INTERSTATE CONTRACT CONCERNING QUALIFICATION OF EDUCATION PERSONNEL

 

 

The contract agreement covers the applicant who has successfully completed an approved professional preparation program in a state which has signed an Interstate Certification Contract with New Hampshire or is an experienced educator covered under the contract.  The Commissioner of Education reserves the right, as specified in the Interstate Certification Contract, to deny licensure where advanced study is the practice in New Hampshire but not in the sending state.  Endorsement titles affected are school psychologist, associate school psychologist, speech and language pathologist, and some special education areas.

 

The agreement between/among the states which subscribe to the Interstate Certification Contract covers the acceptance of approved collegiate professional preparation programs; it is not a blanket acceptance of certification.

 

A New Hampshire certificate is required prior to employment in a teaching, administrative, or professional support position in the public schools in the State.  For additional information, contact:
