The British Columbia (Canada) Ministry of Education has compiled an extensive curriculum plan for personal and social development K-12, which they call career and personal planning. This Integrated Curriculum Package contains learning outcomes, suggested ideas for instruction, a list of recommended learning resources (books, videos, electronic resources) and possible methods for evaluating students’ progress. This is one of my favorite guidance curriculum sites and I have sought and obtained written permission from the BC Ministry of Education for New Hampshire Guidance Counselors to download, duplicate, and use any information from this site. Follow the link from "Curriculum Subject AReas and IRPs " to "Health & career Education ", and then to any specific grade level. This is an extensive site! The Educational Resources Information Center Counseling and Student Services Clearinghouse (ERIC/CASS) was established in 1966 by Dr. Garry R. Walz at the University of Michigan. Its scope was extensive, including school counseling, school social work, school psychology, mental health counseling, marriage and family counseling, career counseling, and student development. ERIC has gone through some changes and is now housed and maintained by the USDOE. Using the search term box, you should be able to access a number of professional abstracts and/or full papers. If you put "student services" in the serch term box it will result in over 40,000 'hits'. "School counseling" results in over 19,000.

They offer them with the reminder that information is specific to each college which produces the pamphlet, and include their own UC pamphlets in this list. The .Topic list is extremely extensive including adjustiment, culture issues for excahnge or international students, cults (including the University of New Hampshire's booklet: Signs of an Unhealthy Group), loneliness, relationships, and major emotional issues for youth. The topic information is good, and many may be useful for guidance counseling office handouts.
