Driver Education

The Office of Driver Education serves driver education teachers and programs through the management of teacher certification and recertification; assisting teachers by providing onsite observations and coaching, conducting statewide and regional training programs, disseminating information via e-mail, postal mail, telephone, and other means; and through maintaining a quality level of required course curriculum delivery.

The office provides technical assistance in school safety and safety education to school administration and staff and to concerned organizations and citizens. It also is responsible for the dissemination of Drug-Free School Zone signs to school districts and for submitting annual reports of expulsions under the Federal Gun-Free School Act of 1994 to the U.S. Department of Education.

The office provides technical assistance to districts and parents regarding the safety aspects of school bus stops and legal requirements of students regarding acceptable distances from students' homes to the bus stop.
